Ivan Tsang | screenwriter

Ivan Tsang’s breakthrough into the business occurred when he wrote an original pilot for HBO entitledEveryone Loves Asian Men as part of the HBO Access Writing Fellowship.

Since then, Ivan has become an in-demand international screenwriter who has written and developed multiple projects in Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and America where he is based.

International highlights include “A.D.A.M.” for Taiwan’s Six Studios, “Ugly Duckling” a feature adaptation for Korea’s Dexter Studios with Arden Cho (Netflix’sPartner Track) set to star, and “When Pigs Fly” for an international Emmy-nominated Producer in early development with China/Singapore studio MM2 Entertainment.

On the American side, Ivan Tsang wrote the feature film “Lunar New Year” with Simu Liu (star of Marvel’s Shang-Chi) attached to lead. He is currently writing “Dragon’s Den” a K-town action comedy for Little Mandarin Productions. At the same time, Ivan’s indie prestige thriller, “Stealing Stanford” was optioned by Morning Moon Productions (Producer credits include Wildflower, The Witch).

On the TV side, Ivan wrote a TV pilot with SB PROJECTS (Now HYBE America, Producers of “DAVE” on FX) attached based on the Subtle Asian Traits Facebook group. His pilot “I’m Fuckin’ Invisible” participated in the Asian American TV Accelerator created by Giant Leap Media (Producer of We Bury the Dead starring Daisy Ridley, and Morning starring Benedict Cumberbatch)

Ivan is a native of Toronto, Canada who found his way into America via the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). After graduating, Ivan attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where he received his MFA in Film and TV writing. Ivan has always been passionate about Asian American representation and quickly moved to LA after graduation to join the Asian YouTube wave of the mid-2010s where videos he wrote for Asian American Influencers amassed over 100 million views.

Most importantly, Ivan is also the proud owner of a Pug named Russell whose favorite hobby is to loudly snore through every zoom Ivan’s taken since 2020.
